History: In 2016, in the arid savannas of northern Kenya, camel herders discovered what appeared to be a cluster of metallic rocks. In reality, it was one of the most spectacular finds in recent years. The Sericho meteorite, an imposing pallasite weighing over 2.8 tons. Pallasites are truly cosmic oddities, formed from olivine crystals embedded in an iron-nickel matrix, making them some of the most beautiful rocks in the solar system. Each fragment of Sericho reveals a fascinating mineral landscape: olivines ranging from green to gold, some with orange hues from slight terrestrial alteration, set like gems in extraterrestrial metal. This meteorite originates from the core-mantle boundary of a large, differentiated asteroid, offering both scientific evidence of planetary formation and a piece of extraordinary natural beauty. Only about 1% of meteorites recovered on Earth are pallasites, making Sericho a true rarity in the world of meteorites.
