Prognathodon is an extinct gender of mosasaurid sauropsids that lived during the Late Cretaceous, in what is now North America, Europe, and Africa.

Related to the current monitors, these marine reptiles were very successful predators that, but for the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction, would most likely still be among us.
