Description: Listracanthus is an extinct genus of cartilaginous fish in the order Eugeneodontiformes that is related to Edestus. They are mainly known for their enormous feather-like denticles, measuring up to 10 cm in length. The main denticles were located on the spine, with secondary spines emanating from the skin, like a feather or a comb. Listracanthus first appeared in late Carboniferous strata in North America, and eventually disappeared from the fossil record sometime during the Late Triassic, making it one of the longest-living genera in the family Edestidae. It has no restorations, 100% natural.
