The Bura civilization has been called the lost civilization of the arid African Sahel (the semi-arid transition region between the Sahara desert to the north and the wetter regions of equatorial Africa to the south). Currently this area is located in the southwest of Niger east to Burkina Faso and is loosely linked to the Mali Empire. These iron spearheads are called "rat tail" because of the long shank and the spines that have spikes do not come loose.
