 Description: The organisms in this system are some of the most celebrated and problematic fossils in the rock record. The most famous Ediacarans are creatures such as Dickinsonia , Spriggina , and Tribrachidium . 

The morphology and classification of Nemiana simplex have been the subject of debate for decades due to its primitive nature and the lack of clear analogies with living organisms. This organism is very similar to the fossil sea anemone Bergaueria, which has led to the view that Nemiana fossils are the underside of sea anemones. However, scientists are currently divided on whether to consider this fossil a jellyfish or an anemone.

 Fossils of this organism are small to moderately large circular to subcircular masses at the bottom of sandstone beds (convex hyporelief; most Ediacaran macrofossils are preserved in the soles of sandstone beds).
