Description: Beautiful pyritized ammonite, no restorations or paints, 100% natural, scarce material.
In the Holzmaden region, the so-called "Posidonia" schists are found beneath the ground. This formation originated in a tropical sea. There were several quarries in the area between the towns of Holzmaden, Ohmden, Schlierbach, and Zell, which gradually closed over the years. Now only two quarries remain, one of which is operated exclusively for private fossil collectors.
These schists are paleontologically crucial due to the extraordinary preservation of marine reptiles (ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs), fish, and crinoids found in the fossils, including soft tissues, thus revealing unique anatomical details.
This piece will travel insured in a safety package to arrive in perfect condition.
