Description: A stunning specimen of the Ordovician trilobite species Dikelokephalina brenchleyi. Exceptionally and meticulously cleaned by expert sandblasters. With minimal repair (nothing compared to most of the extensively restored specimens we've seen of this species so far), this is the first specimen we've found worthy of inclusion in our catalog.

The Fezouata Formation, or Fezouata Shale, contains extraordinary fossils because the animals were quickly buried by storm deposits of silt and clay, favorable conditions for the preservation of soft tissue (now pyritized or altered by a mixture of iron oxides and hydroxides, hence their orange-red color). The fossils belong to two intervals, the Tremadocian and the Floian, which are much less fossil-rich.

This piece will travel insured in a safety package to arrive in perfect condition.
