History: Ordinary chondrites are the most common meteorites to fall to Earth, but no less fascinating for that. They are fragments of asteroids that have remained virtually unchanged since the formation of the solar system, more than 4.5 billion years ago. Their interior preserves chondrules, small mineral spheres that formed from primitive cosmic dust, fused by heat in space. These spheres, along with other metallic and silicate components, make each chondrite a time capsule that shows us what the early materials that gave rise to planets like Earth were like. Although this piece is not classified within a specific group (such as H, L, or LL), it retains all the characteristics of an ordinary chondrite: granular texture, silicate-rich matrix, and the presence of metal, often visible to the naked eye. An ideal meteorite for those looking to hold in their hands an authentic fragment of the solar system's most distant past.
This piece will travel insured in a safety package to arrive in perfect condition.
